In support of Refugee Week 2019, The International Observatory of Human Rights invites you on Thursday 20th of June to a special screening of ‘Lifeboat’ the Oscar-nominated film directed by Mr. Skye Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald’s heart-in-mouth documentary follows the story of volunteers from a German non-profit as they set out into the Mediterranean to rescue refugees from sinking rafts that had pushed off from Libya in the dead of night.

“Lifeboat puts a human face on one of the world’s greatest contemporary global crises and provides a spark of hope surrounding how civil society can intervene in the refugee crisis in a meaningful way.” – Skye Fitzgerald

IOHR ambassadors, volunteers and guests will get a chance to participate in a Q and A session with the director through Skype after the screening of this eye-opening film to commemorate Refugee Week 2019.

The theme for Refugee Week 2019 is “You, me and those who came before”.

Join IOHR in a week-long series of events and activities to shine a light on all of the great contributions refugees have made in the UK. We hope that our screening of ‘Lifeboat’ will help to remind people of the tremendous risk and sacrifice refugees around the world have made in search of that better life.

If you would like to join us for an evening of hard-hitting cinema, free popcorn and exclusive access to the director himself then please RSVP for your free ticket.
